Comparison · School management software
Klas Manager vs SAFSIMS
The short answer. Klas Manager brings academics, fee collection, parent access, staff and inventory management, boarding, health and gate security into one school workspace. The software is free, with no monthly or annual renewal; school fee-processing services carry disclosed charges. Schools also get a free, editable webfront for articles, journals, yearbooks and school news.
SAFSIMS publishes its plans and customer references. Those are useful evaluation facts, not proof that it delivers better service or covers your school’s needs more fully. Compare the actual workflows, total charges, support and recovery evidence. Klas Manager serves both day and boarding schools — not only schools whose problems happen at the gate.
Side by side
What each one publishes about itself.
SAFSIMS pricing is drawn from its published rate card; Klas capabilities are checked against its implementation and operator records. Unverified competitor workflows are questions for a demonstration, not presumed gaps.
| SAFSIMS | Klas Manager | |
|---|---|---|
| Company | FlexiSAF Edusoft Limited. Offices listed in London and Abuja. States “Over 10 years of experience as industry leaders.” | Mpaukwu Trading, CAC BN 7294223, registered Ohafia, Abia State since 10 January 2024. |
| Customer references | Publishes school references and an adoption claim on its pricing page. | A growing school platform. Assess Klas Manager through a working demonstration, your own school workflows and documented recovery testing; adoption alone does not establish service quality. |
| Published price | Published NGN starting rates per student per term: Starter ₦1,000; Standard ₦2,000; Premium ₦3,000. Free for up to 50 students; volume pricing is advertised. Request a current quote. | Free school software at any student count. No monthly or annual software renewal. Charges apply when Klas Manager processes school fee collection, with the collection and provider charges disclosed during onboarding. |
| Fees & payments | Publishes school-fee management and payment features. Confirm the enabled channels, charges and settlement terms for your school. | Fee structures, bills, balances and receipts; cash, transfer and POS collections, plus online checkout through the connected payment provider. Online options include card, bank transfer and USSD where enabled and supported by that provider. Klas Manager is not limited to counter payments. |
| Academics | Classroom management, result compilation and processing. CBT (quizzes, assignments, exams) and lesson planning from the Standard tier. | Classes, subjects, attendance, results and reports, plus an exam engine with a curriculum-mapped, teacher-reviewed question library. |
| Parent communication | Parent communication listed as a module. | Branded parent portal: progress and results, fees and receipts, announcements, and who may collect the child. |
| Boarding | Ask for a demonstration of house allocation, rooming and welfare records, and confirm plan availability. | Boarding houses, rooming, welfare check-ins and pastoral notes as a first-class module, beside the medical unit. |
| Gate & access control | Ask for a demonstration of campus gate, visitor and child-collection controls. | Gate passes, visit days and security verification, checked against the guardian list the office maintains. |
| Payroll, HR & inventory | Payroll, expenses and inventory are listed in its Premium plan. | Staff records, payroll, attendance and inventory management within the school workspace. |
| School website & publishing | An included editable school publishing website is not established by the pricing page reviewed. Ask the vendor to demonstrate its offering. | Free branded school webfront on a school subdomain, with editable design, preview and publication controls for school news, articles, journals and yearbooks, plus parent and school-team login links. |
| Deployment | The deployment model is not stated on the pages checked (checked 5 October 2026) | Managed self-hosted. The infrastructure behind the live applications is operated directly rather than rented as a closed tenancy, so data location and access are things that can be answered specifically. |
| Backups | Ask for the vendor’s backup retention, off-site storage and recovery-test evidence. | Database backups have a local server copy and an off-server copy in Cloudflare R2. Local storage and off-site storage are distinguished explicitly. |
| Recovery testing | Restore testing is not described on the pages checked (checked 5 October 2026) | Recovery is tested rather than assumed. Backups are checked and a restore is run in a separate environment, never touching live customer data. It is a fire drill: the point is to know how to recover before there is an emergency. |
| Monitoring & maintenance | Ask for monitoring coverage, maintenance policy and support commitments. | Documented health checks, capacity checks and controlled maintenance, with evidence retained for follow-up. Ask for current monitoring coverage and support commitments rather than assuming uninterrupted monitoring. |
| Built on | The technology stack is not published (checked 5 October 2026) | Next.js 15, React 19, Prisma, PostgreSQL, NextAuth. Published so a school’s own IT adviser can assess it. |
| Try before buying | Free tier up to 50 students. | Free workspace, plus a working prototype of the whole system on this site with sample data, no sign-up. |
Honestly
Published facts. Demonstrable value.
A longer history or a familiar name is not a substitute for checking features, service, cost and the workflows your school actually uses.
What SAFSIMS publishes
- School references. Its pricing page presents customer references. Ask those schools about service quality and outcomes; references do not establish that another product lacks a feature.
- Published subscription plans. A per-student-per-term rate card lets you request a quote. Compare the full annual cost with Klas Manager’s free software and disclosed fee-processing charges.
- Plan-based modules. Its published plans cover academics and fees, with additional modules in higher tiers. Use a live demonstration to verify the workflows, rather than assuming a plan label means superior functionality.
What Klas Manager brings to your school
- Boarding and the gate, in the same record as everything else. Neither appears among SAFSIMS’ stated modules. For a boarding school this is the difference between one system and three.
- Who may collect a child. The guardian list the office maintains is what the gate checks against — not a photocopy, not somebody’s memory.
- Free software, not a subscription trial. No monthly or annual software renewal, regardless of student count. School fee-processing services have disclosed charges; free software does not mean payment processing is free.
- Online and counter collection. Provider-enabled online channels alongside cash, transfer and POS records, fee balances, bills and receipts. USSD is a provider channel, not a reason to label Klas Manager counter-only.
- A free school publishing webfront. Schools can shape their public website and publish articles, journals, yearbooks and news without buying a separate website subscription.
- School operations beyond academics. Staff, payroll and inventory sit alongside fees, parent access, boarding, welfare, medical context and gate records.
- Recovery evidence. On 5 October 2026 a current Klas R2 backup was restored in an isolated database. All 85 table counts and 35 migrations matched the read-only live baseline; production was untouched. This proves database recovery, not a full application failover.
- A published stack and a playable prototype. You can read what it is built on and operate the whole system before speaking to anyone.
The decision
Which should you choose?
Ask every vendor to demonstrate…
- Your fee structures, bills, part payments, receipts and collection reports.
- Which online channels are enabled for your school, with their charges and settlement terms.
- Results, parent access, staff, inventory and any boarding or gate workflows you need.
- Website publishing, data exports, support and a recent recovery test.
- The total cost, including subscriptions, collection charges and optional services.
Choose Klas Manager if…
- You want fees, results, parent access, staff and inventory in one workspace for a day or boarding school.
- You want a free, editable school website for journals, articles, yearbooks and school news.
- You need both provider-enabled online collection and recorded cash, transfer and POS payments.
- You run a boarding house, and welfare, rooming and health currently live in separate books.
- The gate is a real security question and you want releases checked against the record.
- You have a large roll and per-student-per-term pricing is the thing stopping you digitising.
- You need the data on infrastructure you or your adviser can point at, with a restore practice you can ask about.
- You want to use the thing before you commit to it.

Still deciding
Talk it through with the person who built it.
If you are weighing these two for a real school, the fastest way to decide is to run your own structure through Klas Manager and see where it does and does not fit.
